Sacramento, CA - on Wednesday 12 July 2023 Sacramento, California will be the first Homeless World Cup host city to present a global symposium on homelessness.

The event will involve a number of speakers along with a panel discussion including individuals with lived experience of homelessness. Featured speakers include: Suzanne Fitzpatrick of Heriot Watt University (Edinburgh, Scotland); Chet Hewitt, President and CEO of Sierra Health Foundation (Northern California): Hope Solo, USWNT Olympic and World Cup Champion; Dr Shannon Thyne, UCLA; Mel Young, Homeless World Cup; plus athletes from the 2023 Homeless World Cup Tournament which is being held in the Hornet Stadium at Sacramento State University between 8 and 15 July 2023.

With up to 300 spaces available for attendees, the symposium offers a first-of-its-kind opportunity to hear from and join in conversations with experts and, critically, those who have experienced homelessness themselves. It will be a morning to listen, learn and share, bringing hope and healing to a global crisis.

Doors open at 8am with the symposium running from 8.30am until 12.15pm at the Sacramento State Ballroom at Sacramento State University campus.

Thanks to the generous support of the Sacramento State University, Sierra Health Foundation and Aces Aware, the symposium is free and open to the public, although seats must be reserved in advance via online registration at https://2023homelessworldcup.org/symposium/.
